The short version. The WAV repair tool is free. It works on a copy and never changes your original file, but we can't promise every file can be recovered, so keep your originals and back up your cards.

The service

FootageRescue offers browser-based tools to repair audio and video recordings that were interrupted before they were finished. The tools run on your device; your files are not uploaded. The WAV repair tool is currently free. Paid video repair follows the terms of sale below.

No guarantee of recovery

How much of a recording can be recovered depends on what actually reached the card. Some files can't be repaired, and a repaired file may be missing its last moments or contain small glitches. The free tools are provided "as is". Always keep your original files and don't format the card until you're satisfied with the result.

Terms of sale

These terms apply to paid video repair from the day it launches. Before you pay, the checkout shows the final price and these terms again.

  • What you buy. "One file" is the repair of one interrupted recording to full length, with no watermark, repeatable on that same file for 7 days. The "12-month pass" covers every file for 12 months from purchase, for one person, and does not renew automatically.
  • Preview before payment. You're only asked to pay after a free preview of the recovered footage: the first 20 seconds, with a large watermark. If no preview can be produced, there's nothing to pay.
  • Price and taxes. Prices are shown in US dollars. Prices include all applicable taxes, including EU VAT.
  • Payment. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.
  • Merchant of record. Payments are handled by Stripe, which acts as the merchant of record (reseller) for purchases. Your receipt and invoice are issued by Stripe, and Stripe may also process refund requests under its own policy.
  • Refund guarantee. If the full repaired file doesn't match the preview, email hello@footagerescue.com within 14 days of purchase and we refund you in full.
  • Right of withdrawal (EU consumers). The repair is digital content supplied immediately. At checkout you'll be asked to agree that the service starts right away and to acknowledge that you lose the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal once the repair has started. This doesn't affect the refund guarantee above or your legal rights if the service is faulty.

Your responsibilities

  • Only repair files you own or have the right to use.
  • Don't try to disrupt the site, reverse its security or use it to break the law.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, UAU Srl is not liable for lost data, lost footage or indirect damages arising from the use of the free tools. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for fraud or gross negligence, and nothing affects your rights as a consumer under the laws of the country where you live.

Trademarks

Camera and recorder brands are mentioned only to describe compatibility. FootageRescue is not affiliated with Sony, Zoom, Tascam, GoPro, DJI, Apple or any other manufacturer.

Law

These terms are governed by Italian law. If you're a consumer in the EU, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country and can bring a claim there.
