A browser-based tool that repairs recordings that were cut short: the battery died, the card was pulled out, or the camera or recorder crashed before the file was closed. It rebuilds the part of the file that tells players how to read it, so the recording opens again.
WAV files from audio recorders are supported now, for free. Sony .RSV files come next, followed by interrupted MP4 and MOV files from GoPro, DJI, iPhone, Canon, Panasonic, Nikon and Fujifilm. Join the waitlist on the home page to hear first.
Cameras and recorders write the index of a file last, when you press stop. If power is lost, the card is removed while the light is on, or the device crashes, that index is missing or says the file is empty. The picture and sound themselves are usually intact.
Yes. Put the card back in the same camera with a charged battery and turn it on: many Sony and GoPro models try to repair the last file on their own. If nothing happens, copy the file to your computer and don't format the card.
You get everything that reached the card, up to the last complete frame or sample. If the card was pulled out while writing, the last fraction of a second may be missing. Heavily damaged files can show short glitches.
Never. The repair always writes a new file. The original stays exactly as it was, so you can try again or try another method.
You'll see why and what to try next, for example recording a short reference clip with the same camera settings. You pay nothing for a file that can't be recovered.
No. The repair runs inside your browser on your own computer. Your footage never leaves it, and we can't see it.
Yes, that's exactly why it works locally. Nothing is sent to a server, so no third party ever handles your client's footage.
Only your email if you join the waitlist or buy something, plus what's needed for the payment and invoice. See the privacy policy for details.
Mac, Windows and Linux. WAV repair works in any modern browser. Video repair will need Chrome, Edge, Brave or Arc, because those browsers can write very large files straight to your disk.
Tens of gigabytes are fine. The file is read and written piece by piece, so it doesn't need to fit in memory. You need free disk space about as large as the file you're repairing.
No. Open the site and drop your file.
Audio: Zoom, Tascam, Rode, Sound Devices and any recorder that writes PCM or BWF WAV. Video at launch: Sony cameras that leave .RSV files (FX3, FX30, FX6, A7 IV, A7S III and others). Right after: MP4 and MOV files from GoPro, DJI, iPhone, Canon, Panasonic, Nikon and Fujifilm.
WAV repair is free. Video repair will cost $29 per repaired file of any size, or $79 for a 12-month pass with unlimited files. Prices are in US dollars and include all taxes.
Only after you've watched the free preview of your recovered footage. Dropping the file and watching the preview are always free.
The first 20 seconds of your recovered video, with a large watermark. It's enough to check picture and sound before you pay. The full repair has no watermark.
Yes. People on the waitlist get 30% off for the first 14 days after video repair launches.
One interrupted recording, for example one .RSV clip, repaired to full length. After paying you can run the repair on that same file again for 7 days, for example on another computer.
If the full file doesn't match what the preview showed, email hello@footagerescue.com within 14 days and we refund you in full.
No. It simply ends after 12 months. You can buy a new one if you need it.
Through a secure checkout by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. A receipt, and an invoice with your company details if you add them, arrives by email.
